BPA joins the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education in celebrating National Entrepreneurship Week 2008.  They chose one of the sample press releases from the National Entrepreneurship Week website to publish in the next issues of the BPA COMMUNIQUE magazine and the Local Advisor’’s Bulletin newsletter. The magazine publishes in January, and the newsletter in early February. The magazine has a potential reach of 52,500 (3,000 chapter advisors, 49,500 students) and the newsletter reaches the chapter advisors. On February 3, JA launched its new weekly TV show, Biz Kid$, as part of an initiative focused on entrepreneurship and financial literacy for students in grades 4-8.
Airing on PBS 45 & 49, this weekly series is part of a mulitmedia initiative that includes a website, e-newsletter, downloadable curriculum and companion materials.
"We are encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit in young people through Biz Kid$, which we think will resonate strongly with kids," said Dave Best, President of JA of Akron Area.

Junior Achievement of Central Ohio, Inc. is an active supporter of National Entrepreneurship Week and founding member of the Ohio Entrepreneurship Coalition.  Check out their video of The JA BizTown Capstone program that provides students with a realistic opportunity to experience how basic economic concepts are used in the real world. By participating in JA BizTown, young students experience the responsibilities and opportunities of citizenship in a free enterprise system.   http://www.ja.org/about/about_news_video_biztown.shtml    In the classroom, students apply for jobs, develop business plans, and learn about banking. At JA BizTown, students run 14 businesses and government offices including a bank, newspaper  delivery     center, radio station, retail stores, and town hall.
